Conner Goes Humpy Fishing

Every other year the Humpies (aka Dog Salmon) run up the rivers to spawn and 2007 is a Humpy year. Humpys aren't good eating...they are called Dog Salmon because the Indians used to feed them to their dogs. There are thousands of them and they are easy and fun to catch. Last week Kevin and their friend and fishing guide Rob took Conner Humpy fishing.

Bluejays are noisy and tend to bully the other birds at the birdfeeder, but they sure are beautiful. Saturday there was one making all kinds of racket out front and he held still long enough for me to get a quick picture...

Our Fun Daytrip to Friday Harbor, WA

Today was a fabulous day. Our friends Brian and Nadine Behrend flew us up to Friday Harbor for lunch. Brian even let Sylvia and I fly for a while! It was really amazing to leave Arlington at 2:00, fly south and do a loop around Seattle and then continue up to Friday Harbor, sightsee and have a leisurely lunch...all that and still make it back before dark. It makes us want to get pilot's licenses and do this ourselves.... it really does!
