The Life and Death of a Lightning Bolt

It's interesting how it jumps around between stormclouds for a fraction of a second before it finally touches down.

That's a cool sequence of photos!

When I was growing up in Arizona, I alternately hated and loved lightning. Hated it when it was so close the flash and the thunder were nearly simultaneous or when a thunder storm would roll in during the middle of the night and disrupt my sleep. Loved it when it was off in the distance...watching it while traveling on family camping trips...then it was ethereal and beautiful!

Awesome photos. I'm not sure how you managed to get so many photos in the small amount of time it takes for a lightning bolt to hit the ground. Wow. Really neat.
