Sole Survivor

Several weeks ago we lost all of our goldfish and koi to a band of marauding raccoons. All they left behind were a few koi scales and a fishhead. Today I "deep cleaned" the pond for spring and as I was draining the last of the water something caught my eye in the mud and gunk. It was a goldfish fry, barely an inch long flopping around in the bottom of the pond! How it managed to survive over these last several weeks I don't know but it somehow pulled through. Tough little bugger!

Abby Goes to the Woodland Park Zoo

Every trip to the Woodland Park Zoo is a new experience because you never know which animals are going to be out and about. Today the giraffes were a highlight, along with the jaguar, bears, warthogs and penguins. I'm sure I'm missing something!
