M5

M5 - The Rose (star) Cluster

This object is very challenging to find due to it's location - it's kind of out in the middle of nowhere halfway between Virgo's right foot and Serpens. Star-hopping is difficult with this one. Here are a few views of M5 using various settings. Also included is a video of M5 when all of a sudden a Starlink satellite zips by. Kinda cool.

Vega

Vega is the 5th brightest star in the night sky. It is 25.05 light years away. I had fun viewing it with my 10mm Svbony eyepiece last night.

Selected Space Videos

I've really enjoyed working on this little project. I take lots and lots of videos through my telescope (Celestron - AstroMaster 90EQ Refractor Telescope), much of which I don't use and end up deleting. But some of it I use for stacking, and some of that is worth saving. I've kept the best of those over the last 20 months and here are a few of my favorites. Hope you like them too.

The Pleiades

I've been trying to photograph the Pleiades for weeks and could never get it right. It's just big enough that it won't conveniently fit in my eyepiece. So... i took video of it the other night and using that I was able to create a panorama. I sliced a video up into four pieces and then used my photos software to splice them all together.

You Rock! Asterism

Star Castula and other surrounding stars in the constellation Cassiopeia. Castula is the bright one in upper left. I am naming it the 'You Rock!' asterism.
