Aeries Joins the Orchestra

I dropped a rental violin off at Aeries' house tonight because she wants to play in orchestra this year. She's been saying she wanted to play viola for a while, but when it came time to decide she told her mommy 'violin'. Can't wait to hear how it goes! I started playing the cello in 4th grade so it's exciting to see her get started. Who knows where it will go but she definitely has an interest and that's what matters. I showed her a few of the basics and set up her shoulder rest so she's ready to 'play' tomorrow morning.

I know my Dad would be thrilled too.

Aeries Does Math Homework

Last weekend Aeries was doing her math homework, writing very neatly but verrrry small. Itty bitty teeny tiny numbers. She even made a couple mistakes because she couldn't read her own writing. Is it a 7 or a 1? An 8 or a 0? It's so tiny I can't tell!
Anyway, after I had said "oops, that one isn't right" at least twice and telling her to write bigger numbers over and over again, she grabbed a separate piece of paper and with a bit of "okay fine Papa I'll do it your way" in her eyes, solved the last problem this way. At least she could see it!
